About The Famiglia

Being lifelong wine lovers, world travelers, having an Italian heritage, a dream of a vineyard winery and not wanting to waste another minute not doing what you love, all while teaching our children through example to never give up on your dreams (not to mention some fortuitous timing, blessed circumstances, and kismet friendships) has spurred our move up to the Placerville area in 2023 and the creation of Famiglia Giorgis Vineyards.

Some Background

Mary grew up on the Central Coast of California surrounded by wine, strawberries, varied agriculture and the love of open space. Douglas, a city boy, was born and raised in San Francisco. But don't hold that against him too much, he always loved getting out of the city to enjoy nature and ride horses. For the past 20 years, his parents have owned a timber ranch near Yosemite and he has helped maintain it as much as possible. Mary and Douglas also grow olives and lemons and produce their own olive oil and limoncello, just as long as their kids don't claim the lemons for homemade lemonade. For the past five years, Douglas has been learning the ins and outs of the wine business through an incredible internship/job with the amazing Bush family at Madroña Vineyards and Rucksack Cellars.
